We have big news - Unmasking the Intractable: Exploring Anti-Racism and the Law

The joint symposium "Unmasking the Intractable: Exploring Anti-Racism and the Law" between Verfassungsblog and Africanlegalstudies.blog critically addresses the enduring challenges of racial inequality within international and national legal frameworks. It examines the effectiveness of anti-racism laws, questioning whether their shortcomings arise from unrealistic expectations or inherent design flaws, while advocating for the integration of decolonial and third-world legal approaches to uncover new perspectives and methodologies. This project is funded by Cluster of Excellence Africa Multiple at the University of Bayreuth, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation) under Germany’s Excellence Strategy – EXC 2052/1–390713894.

On the African Legal Studies Blog we will publish in total 10 insightful articles for the next 5 weeks – stay tuned!

This week we will start with the following two articles: ‘Unmasking the Intractable - Exploring Anti-Racism and the Law’ by Prof. Fareda Banda, Hatem Elliese and Thoko Kaime; as well as ‘German Police Controls and Structural Racism’ by Johannes Siegel Thank you very much to all the authors, editors, the Cluster and project manager! We are curious to receive your comments and feedback!
